Crowning a craggy hilltop high above Llangollen, Castell Dinas Brân – the Crow’s Fortress – is one of the most dramatically-sited and legend-haunted strongholds in the whole of Britain. Set within the corner of an Iron Age hillfort, it is one of the few surviving Welsh-built stone castles, constructed in the 13th Century by Gruffudd ap Madoc, ruler of northern Powys.

Towering high above the Dee Valley and the bustling town of Llangollen, home of the International Eisteddfod, Castell Dinas Bran occupies one of Britain's most spectacular sites. A rugged, foreboding pinnacle, the hillock was the ideal spot to erect a castle. It seemed completely impenetrable, commanded views for miles around, and offered quick recognition of an approaching visitor, whether friend or foe. Yet, the native Welsh princes of Powys occupied the hilltop for only a few decades. Today, that same site is open to exploration by the public. Forced to climb to the summit, modern visitors experience the struggle and the exhilaration that the castle's medieval inhabitants - and their Edwardian attackers - must have felt. Without a doubt, the walk is a breathtaking challenge. However, that climb heightens the allure of Dinas Bran. And, it demonstrates the stark reality of medieval castle life.

The Rofft was a historic site at Marford in the Wrexham County Borough. It was initially a pre-historic camp, and later a motte and bailey castle. There are no visible remains of the site today. The road takes you to the trail but its best to hike up inside of ride up unless you are a very skilled mtb'er

Nice climb but can be difficult to gain any speed on the uneven slabs.

The Afon Clywedog is an upland headwater tributary of the River Severn in Powys, It is approximately 29 km long and has its source on the flanks of Plynlimon and has its confluence with the Severn in Llanidloes. The annual rainfall over the catchment is between 1737 mm and 1836 mm. It has a dragon trail to follow and beautiful waterfalls

Stunning views here at the view point nice ride up well worth a stop

This hotel in the heart of Chester dates back to 1865, but the site has been home to an inn since the 16th century. The hotel is known for its Tudor style, black and white half-timbered frame, and spa. It has hosted many royal visitors, including Princess Grace of Monaco, Princess Margaret, and the late Princess of Wales.

Beautiful stunning scenery watch out for sheep and the odd cattle grids. Definitely worth the climb in any direction

Wide enough for one boat, and with a towpath all the way through, the Whitehouse tunnel lies between Pontcysyllte Aqueduct and Chirk. It is an impressive 175 metres long and was completed between 1795 and 1802. It was designed by Thomas Telford and William Jessop. With the aid of a torch, navigate yourself through this 18th century tunnel, under the traffic of the A5. It’s quite an adventure, be sure to go steadily and be aware of others on foot, or on boats! Please dismount and use you headlight to see the path in front.

Truly amazing views at this point some good climb but well worth for the views
