Always worth a visit to Newstead Abbey it's a beautiful building with wonderful gardens to wonder around and get lost in the beauty

This fine old blacksmiths forge dates back to 1845 and has a horseshoe surrounding the entrance. It's a Grade II listed building.

Newstead Abbey, located in Nottinghamshire, England, originally served as an Augustinian priory. After the Dissolution of the Monasteries, it was converted into a private residence. Today, it is most renowned as the ancestral home of Lord Byron. The priory of St. Mary of Newstead, established by King Henry II of England around 1170, was a house for Augustinian Canons. Despite its present name, Newstead was never an abbey but rather a priory.

St Peter & St Paul's Church dates from the 12th century and is grade 1 listed. It's a serving Church of England church in the Diocese of Southwell and Nottingham.

Good for cycling, low number of cars.

Nice little climb. Good for benchmarking or friendly battle with friends. Not too long and has a sting in the tail. 99% car free.

Sweet little back road from Gunthorpe bridge to East Bridgford. Traffic free to the west, access only at the eastern end, so very quiet. Great way of avoiding the main road. Watch out for flooding after heavy rain though, as the bottom end is at water level. Tip: keep a gear ready for the last bit where it ramps up suddenly.
