Burghley House is always worth a wander through. It has wide shared paths for walking and cycling so it's just for slow speeds. Free parking if you have a car.

Very nice cafe, lots of products to purchase. Also has an outside seating area

This is a grade II listed pedestrain bridge over the River Welland, dating from 1881 and built by Stamford Town Council to replace one destroyed by flood in July 1880. It is built out of rubble stone and iron.

Red Lion Square is a historic market place and the center of Stamford, Lincolnshire, England, known for its cobbled surface.

Only open 10am-4pm Fridays and Sundays, between May and September.

Impressive parkland thanks to C Brown. Whilst in the area pedal a few miles along the quiet roads on the north and east sides of the estate to visit the Hills and Holes National Nature Reserve in Barnack.

Ride over this lovely bridge in Ketton, heading south, and within a mile you will be tackling the steady climb to Collyweston featured in these pages.

Wide, scenic views across the fields towards the roofs of Braceborough on the skyline.

Gentle gradient and not very long so fairly easy to spin up without too much effort.

The church was built in classical style for the Normanton Hall estate on the site of a 14th-century building. Except for the tower, the medieval church was rebuilt in 1764 by Sir Gilbert Heathcote, 3rd Baronet. The church was de-consecrated in 1970, and was to have been demolished as part of the reservoir construction, as its floor was below the proposed water level. Following a public outcry, the lower half was filled with stone and rubble, and a concrete cap constructed just below the level of the windows.

I would stay away from that lane as people driving to Rectory Farm don't seem to be familiar with single track roads or can't be bothered to slow down while overtaking.

Wide road with smooth tarmac that follows the high ridge through the Giddings (Great, Little & Steeple), with open views across the country.

Home made cakes and drinks, using locally sourced ingredients or grown on their farm. A really nice stop! Opening times/days vary, but closed Wednesdays and Saturdays.

The southern section follows the broad ridge and gives pleasant elevated views before the road drops down towards Elton.

Gravel entrance to be taken with caution on road tyres but cafe has covered outside seating which is welcome if the weather isn’t that warm (so most of the time).
