An idyllic lake landscape

If you go down to the sunken garden between Sextons and the flower shop, you'll see the force of the water from the lower dam into Slitten Brook, and it flows into the Bridgewater canal

One of five lakes in the Nature Reserve, woodland, meadows, bird feeding stations and nine bird hides covering the lakes. The RSPB state that is one of the best in Cheshire for bird spotting, noting that it hosts all three species of woodpecker including the lesser spotted woodpeckers and five species of British owls including tawny owls.

Open 24 hours a day with a variety of Picnic benches, outstanding water features, wildlife and heritage. The route links to the Trans Pennine Trail and there is a free public carpark if spaces are limited in Lymm village centre.

Clock Face Country Park is on the site of a former colliery that dates back to 1890. Measuring fifty-seven acres, the country park contains developing woodlands, footpath networks, meadow areas and a fishing pond. Free Car Park

The circular route is easy to walk on and is also great fun for children.

Pennington Flash lake and the surrounding woodland and paths are a local nature reserve and country park. A Flash is the term for a lake formed in a depression caused by mining subsidence. It's interesting that the industrial past has created beautiful places like this.
