Cafe provides excellent food at reasonable prices. Plenty of outside seats and bike racks. Only 1 toilet so expect to que. Well worth a stop on your ride.

Belvoir Castle sits ontop of a hill rising over the valley of Belvoir, commanding views of North Leicestershire for many miles. The house has been the ancestral home of the Dukes of Rutland with the family living at Belvoir for almost a thousand years. The land was a gift from William the Conqueror to one of his Normal barons who fought for him at the Battle of Hastings 1066. The house and gardens can be visited with a cafe to take a break. You will find Woolsthorpe Lock on the end of the fabulously named Dirty Duck Lane. The bridge over the Grantham Canal provides a fantastic viewpoint to take in a rest from your ride, as does the nearby Rutland Arms pub on Woolsthorpe Wharf. There is a good quality gravel towpath alongside the canal.

Note: The nice little independent Cafe Allez has now been replaced by the castle run coffee shop so they could cut out the people who built it up from nothing. Up to you if you want to give them your business.

An idyllic place with beautiful surroundings great food, drink and hospitality at a great price!! Easily accessible and cater for all!!

Also the location of a round of the National Firework Championships each August. A great event, with 4 x 10 minute displays. Well worth going there around the time that this is on. Some challenging climbs around here, with the flat Vale of Belvoir, if you like easier rides.

Woolsthorpe Lock, on the Grantham Canal, is a picturesque place to stop for a moment. Nestling among stunning countryside, it is a lovely spot to while away some time. If you fancy a drink, the Dirty Duck pub on the opposite bank has a large garden beside the water and also serves food.

My wife and I live in Oakham, only 8 miles away, but we often use this great place as a cafe stop, using a variety of different routes around the quiet local lanes. Often ride around here when using the fixie from my stable. The owner, Sarah, is very helpful and accommodating for customers' needs, and the staff such as Georgia are always welcoming and cheerful. Our bikes always feel secure here. Jack at Windmill Wheels next door is one of the best bike mechanics in the area.
