Sparham Pools is a wetland nature reserve in a former gravel quarry. The chalk streams that feed the ponds are clear and clean and the area is now rich in wildlife. Look out for a variety of duck species, including Shoveler, Gadwall, Pochard, and Tufted duck, as well as the less common Goldeneye and Goosander.

There's a pleasant riverside rest spot just next to the bridge on the east bank, overlooking a pool in the river between the bridge and a small weir.

When I visited on a sunny April day, the river here was full of a couple of families paddleboarding and swimming, looked like a nice wild swimming spot. There's a good clearing by the bank to set up on or take a rest too.

This can be muddy in winter. Even though it hasn't rained for many weeks, with just a light shower it soon turns to mud

Rather grand country pub and hotel in a nice location in very scenic Hingham. Maybe somewhere to look at rather than stop at if you’re on a ride.

Apart from the mill house, the only part of the old site left is the former drying house, which has been converted into a garage.

Nature at its best. This area can get flooded in the winter months. Waterproof boots are a must have.
