Founded in 1107 by William d'Aubigny, the butler to King Henry I, Wymondham Abbey was once a thriving monastery. However, it was closed during the Dissolution of the Monasteries under King Henry VIII, with the abbey officially surrendered to the crown in 1538. Today, the building serves as an Anglican parish church.

Daisy's Milk Shed. Great rest stop. Vending machine at the end of a long drive, with picnic tables amongst fields and cows. Raw milk, milkshakes & coffee with snacks. Buy direct from the dairy farmer. Open 8am-8pm, 7 days a week

Locally grown asparagus during the season, fruit, quiches, preserves, icecream etc to fill your panniers.

On the Lowe Caravan Park site: no signage to indicate its presence from the road so you need to know it's there. Only open 10am-2pm Thu-Sun.

Easily the best coffee for miles around, only diminished by the lack of bike parking or outdoor seating, so it's a case of prop your bike out front where you can see it while you pop in to place your order.

Has that curious thing of being impressively intact at one end but partially ruined at the other. Very grand for a parish church!

Quaint market town with the usual collection of shops and cafes making it a good place for a ride break.

Wymondham is a gorgeous market town in South Norfolk that dates back to the Anglo-Saxon period. Known as a centre for woodturning and brush-making, many of the factories of Wymondham were still in action until the late 1900s.

Upgraded a lot in recent times with a large, partially covered decking area overlooking the water and a bicycle-shaped fountain in the lake!

An odd-looking ruin, the the tower now standing separate from the nave after the middle part of the church collapsed.

Rather grand country pub and hotel in a nice location in very scenic Hingham. Maybe somewhere to look at rather than stop at if you’re on a ride.

Tucked away behind buildings and a high fence so relatively easy to miss despite its size if you’re coming from Buckenham.

Great location for a quick refreshment break or a full lunch stop. Outdoor tables if it’s dry.
