This fine old blacksmiths forge dates back to 1845 and has a horseshoe surrounding the entrance. It's a Grade II listed building.

St Peter & St Paul's Church dates from the 12th century and is grade 1 listed. It's a serving Church of England church in the Diocese of Southwell and Nottingham.

Cyclist friendly beer stop. Variety of food trucks here in the early evenings too.

The Minster is spectacular

Great café, plenty of seating inside and when the weather is good plenty of outdoor seating as well. Would definitely recommend coming here.

Very quiet lanes good width and easy for cars to get past. We were blessed with a tailwind which was very welcome.

If you're seeking refreshment, The Saville Arms represents the last remaining pub in the village of Eakring – there used to be seven! The Daffodil Tearoom is also a delicious option. Interestingly, Eakring was once the largest on-shore oil field in Britain, after the precious resource was discovered here in 1939. Though today the oil is spent, Eakring maintains its charm thanks to distinctive red-roofed houses, its five-storey brick windmill and the friendly locals.

A great road to carry out intervals and pacing/drafting.

Absolutely worth the slog is the downhill charge into Southwell. This climb is featured in Simon Warren’s greatest climbs series. It’s tough but doable.
