Nice area to stop by, have a snack and enjoy the peaceful noise of a running stream. Don't stop if you need to pee haha! :)

This isn’t a towering drop (about 2–3 meters high, with mossy steps), but it’s part of the classic Goyt Valley scenery, surrounded by ancient quarries and views of Errwood’s deep waters (up to 35m in places). It’s often encountered en route to Goytsclough Quarry, an old lime works turned nature spot.

This highlight is positioned at a viewing point for the waterfall. If you wish to actually stand next to the waterfall you would need to head down to the river, carefully cross the river and then carefully make your way along the river bank to the waterfall. When I did this we hadn't had much rainfall and so the water levels were very low. So, this access may vary depending on the water level of the river at any given time.

The streams in Deep Clough, Goyt's Clough and Berry Clough all flow into the River Goyt which then fills Errwood Reservoir. The streams are lively after rainfall and there are some good waterfalls to be found in the steep sided valleys.

This is a scramble to get up or down from. Good fitness required. Would say this is harder than Jacobs ladder, to give context.

Very popular spot for hikers and wild swimmers. All routes away go up!

Really good fun part of the walk. We took our boys aged 11 and 8 and they loved it. It’s tiring and difficult in some parts - especially the last section up to the plateau.

The Crowden Clough path follows Crowden Brook from Upper Booth up onto the Kinder plateau. The path is rough, rocky and steep. It's a grade 1 scramble in places but all the hard sections can be avoided. It's often wet and the path uses the stream bed in sections. Really good fun either up or down.

Monsal Dale Weir is a classic picturesque Peak District location. Watch water tumble down the different tiers into a serene rocky pool below.

Sometimes there are cattle in this part of the walk, so maybe dogs on leads if they're a bit excitable

This gets very busy, especially in the summer months with people wanting a dip. Get there early if you want the place to yourself!

Quite a landmark, the Three Shire Heads is found at the point on Axe Edge Moor where Cheshire, Derbyshire and Staffordshire meet. The packhorse bridge and small waterfall make for a photogenic setting and very popular wild swimming (or at least, a wild dip!) spot.

A brilliant Grade I scramble up onto the Kinder plateau. Care should be taken scrambling up the rock face, and it's probably better to attempt this in summer rather than winter as it'll be drier!

If you can get there early you'll appreciate the solitude as later in the day it can get very busy

This is a very scenic way to get up to the plateau! There are lots of waterfalls on the way up. The actual scramble starts out relatively gently but gets steeper and steeper as you progress, requiring you to use your hands in places. The rocks can get slippery at times, especially after heavy rain, so take care. We've done this both ways, coming up and going down, with our then 9 year old, who loved it.

The weir itself is now fenced-off to prevent public access. You can still admire the weir from the footpath, however, and gain access to the river a short step downstream.

A nice climb. Keeping hands free is a must. Many small waterfalls. Beautiful, but be careful. The path is often no longer visible, so aim well and you will get there.
