Closed for good but there is a bike friendly cafe/deli next to it facing the car park, and Rosie Lees nearer the Staithe.

Nice pub. The road to Hales can get busy, and with the twist and turns its difficult to let cars past.

The Lower Esplanade path along the back of the beach below the green is wide enough for riding.

Clean beach. a place to enjoy the sea breeze.

Nice cycling area. Wide seafront that can be a good place to learn cycling. Bring more kids and little bicycles.

Two village ponds of exceptional size.

Unexceptional bit of country lane. Pleasant enough bit of semi-open tree tunnel.

Great riverside location right on the Waveney by St Olaves Bridge. Easy access to the beer garden for bikes.

The best view down the full expanse of the huge sands is from the corner of Cliff Hill and Avondale Road at the northern end of the beach

Occupying an enviable spot on Rockland Staithe, the New Inn is a traditional country pub. It serves great food and drink, perfect for a refuel after exploring Rockland Broad and the trails along the River Yare. The 38-mile (61 km) Wherryman's Way long-distance trail passes right by the door too.

Benches by the ponds for a rest and a picnic.

Presently closed and premises are up for sale. Hopefully it'll be purchased by someone who wants to re-open a cafe.

Hellington Hill is an unexpected little climb. If descending be careful of loose sand and stones on the twisting road.

Quirky little cafe tucked away just out of sight: look for the A-board on the road. Only open limited hours, just 10-3 Fri-Sun.

Scenic village although surprisingly no pub, shop or cafe for refreshments.
