This is the site of Skirlaugh Rail Station, which closed to passengers on May 6, 1957, but remained in use for goods traffic until November 11, 1963. The platforms are visible alongside the rail trail.

Good stopping point for lunch on your way to Hornsea.

The old railway line from Hull to Hornsea which is now repurposed as the Trans Pennine Trail. A traffic free trail where you can enjoy the sights and sounds of the quintessential British countryside.

A memorial on the site of the former RAF Lissett airfield, from which the 158 Squadron took off and played an important role during World War 2. There are twelve wind turbines on the site, with eleven turbines named after aircraft and the twelfth to commemorate the six airmen who perished on 2 July 1943, due to an explosion in the bomb dump. The six airmen who perished due to the Bomb Dump incident were: Corporal Leslie Fielding, Aircraftman 1 Lewis Moore, Aircraftman 1 William Mithan, Aircraftman 1 Kenneth Taylor, Aircraftman 2 Robert Mills and Aircraftman 1 Jack Laycock.

Great cycling themed cafe, good coffee and great food. You can even bring your bike inside!

Great place to stop for a breather and be amazed at the architecture

The RAF Memorial at Lisset airport was unveiled in 2009 and commemorates the 851 men who died from 158 squadron who were stationed here in the Second World War. The Seven eight-foot tall airmen are hard to miss. The names of all 851 men are inscribed on either side of the figures. It is a very striking memorial when silhouetted against the sky.

Beverley Minster is one of the largest parish churches in the UK and is a seen as a gothic masterpiece. It is also known as the Parish Church of St John and St Martin. The building as it stands today was completed in the 15th century but there has been a religious site here since 700. St John was buried in the chapel of the saxon church which stood here in the 8th century and the present minster was built around it.

The former railway line has a bad surface and goes straight for many kilometers. There is also nothing scenically offered, rather boring.

This path is quiet a long one which is primarily under shade. There is car parking close by and a view benches to sit down and relax.

Well worth a visit, lots of places to lock your bike up too plus free wifi if you need to check Strava :D

Unfortunately due to Covid the cafe is now shut

Great route, really enjoyed it, rode it many years ago and it has improved massively, if it's been wet prepare to get mucky, MTB or gravel bike is a breeze, I wouldnt bother with a road bike, can be done but the risk of a puncture is huge. Will definitely ride again.

This is the old railway line from Hull to Hornsea, which is now the Trans Pennine Trail. You can see what I reckon are the old platforms for a station as there seem to be two lines that merge back into one.

Although very flat and initially from Hull the surface is excellent, about half way to Hornsea it becomes a very poor track. This track is only really suited for Mountain bikes. Harder work than you would think on my Hybrid. Needs surfacing all the way.

What could be better than good food at a cycling cafe after your ride? Cafe Velo serves everything from mini eggs cheesecake to full English fry ups. Bradley Wiggins even visited this popular cafe when he participated in the Tour de Yorkshire. Cafe Velo is open from 9am - 4pm Tuesday to Saturday and until 3pm on Sundays. With intricate church spires and carvings, Beverley Minster is often regarded as a gothic masterpiece. A church would have stood here since around 700 to 850 AD, with extensive building work taking place in the 12th century. Beverley Minster is one of the largest churches in the UK and it is actually bigger than many cathedrals.
