A beautiful rural canal of two halves, the upper reaches of the Pocklington Canal between Canal Head and Melbourne is characterised by un-restored locks, tree lined towpaths, and classic humpbacked bridges. Only the lower reaches of the canal is open to boats, lying in an open landscape of floodplains and meadows, rich in wildlife, and identifiable by its distinctive swing bridges. Once threatened, the canal was saved by the work of local volunteers and campaigners, and is now home to three Sites of Special Scientific Interest. Look out for Church Bridge and Swing Bridge No. 7 on the Pocklington Canal – both recently restored. Compact and picturesque parkland that used to be part of the Archbishop of York's manor of Everingham in 1086. Very quiet village, the church stands opposite a row of quaint cottages, and the whole vista is quite picturesque even in winter. This is a beautiful rural canal that stretches 9.5 miles (15 km) between East Cottingwith and Canal Head. The canal path is lined with trees and passes by numerous original locks and elegant humpbacked bridges. It's a delightful stretch of walking – truly.

Small historic church in the Goodmanham region. Due to being close to a road not much sitting area next to church but there is closer to the junction.

Peaceful spot around the Shiptonthorpe area. Few benches around to sit and relax and take in the quietness.

Historic woodland dating back to 1086, Millington Wood is a Local Nature Reserve with distinctive chalk landscape. The woods are a delight in every season: bluebells and ramsons carpet the forest floor in spring, autumn paints the leaves golden and red, and giant bellflowers grow up to 6 feet (1.8 metres) in summer. You can access the woods at all times.

Built in 1130 on the site of a demolished Pagan temple, All Hallows Church is a pretty piece of Norman architecture in Goodmanham village. The church has a simple nave and chancel as well as 16th-century carvings. In 1900, the church was restored by architect Temple Moore to its current splendor. Have a look at the stained glass windows which tell the tale of the church's varied history from King Edwin to the modern Millennium.

All Saints is a pretty church that dates to the late 12th century. The church retains many original features but has, understandably, undergone many alterations and modifications in the centuries since. All Saints is Grade I-listed.

Londesborough Park is a beautifully-landscaped park, woodland, and gardens, complete with manor house. The gardens were created in the late 17th century by Robert Hooke for the 1st Lord Burlington. The avenues are from the early 18th century, and the kitchen garden dates back to around 1730. The park is a picturesque place with a tranquil atmosphere.

All Hallows Church was built in 1130 on the site of a former pagan temple. Historians believe the tower was built in 1180. Inside, the font dates from the early 16th century and has interesting carvings on its bowl and stem. In 1850, an earlier font dating to the 9th century was found in a nearby farmyard — where it had been used as a drinking trough — and was returned to the church. All Hallows is Grade I-listed.
