Really picturesque village, grab a coffee at South Cave serviced

Archetypal English village with its large village green surrounded by pretty stone houses and two pubs. The open beck runs in front of the houses in Eastgate, each with their own private bridge. The banks of the stream are planted with flowers. Skidby Mill is a Grade II listed four-sail windmill and is surrounded by its original outbuildings and courtyard. The Museum of East Riding Rural Life is housed in the outbuildings. The Mill is still operational but from January 2022 is undergoing renovations so is not currently milling flour or open to the public. The Yorkshire Wolds Way passes close by to here and there are are plenty of wide open fields, resplendent in bright yellow rapeseed in the spring, to enjoy.

Beverley Westwood Pasture, to give it its full name, is an open area to the east of the town of Beverley. Cattle and sheep graze here so you may see a few wandering across the road. There is a race course and a golf course on the Westwood, plus a ruined windmill, known locally as Black Mill, which dates from 1803.

Beverley Minster is one of the largest parish churches in the UK and is a seen as a gothic masterpiece. It is also known as the Parish Church of St John and St Martin. The building as it stands today was completed in the 15th century but there has been a religious site here since 700. St John was buried in the chapel of the saxon church which stood here in the 8th century and the present minster was built around it.

Market Weighton is a rural town with a bustling high street and plenty to offer the thirsty, hungry cyclist by way of cafes and pubs. William Bradley is Market Weighton's most famous resident. Although born in 1787 he remains Britain's tallest ever man at 7ft 9 inches tall and weighing 27 stone. There is a statue of Bradley in the town and his giant chair still sits in the Londesborough Arms.

North Newbald is a 'typical' village with a village green and pubs at its centre. Ings Beck flows in front of village houses which makes it even more picturesque. It is a popular place for walkers as the Yorkshire Wolds Way passes nearby. On the village green you will see the Whipping Stone. Legend has it a man was whipped to death here but it is more likely to be the base of the old market cross. Newbald stone was used to build parts of York as well as St Mary's and the Minster in Beverley. The quarry is long since depleted.

Brantingham a quiet village further out of Hull. Triton is a great pub which after a walk through the Welton Dale's can have some home cooked food and is also dog friendly.

Great ride into Beverley or South Cave, got a bit of a climb though

Be careful if it's windy as it really blows along here

Great place if you get a call of nature, only talking number 1s here folks

Well worth a visit, lots of places to lock your bike up too plus free wifi if you need to check Strava :D
