After crossing the bay, the original tries to take you down the A590, a dual carriageway with cars doing 70 mph for 350 m to the roundabout. Not Safe or advisable!

Great spot for a photo is from the Gleaston House Cottage, since the site itself is closed to the public for safety reasons.

Formerly part of Lancashire, Newby Bridge is a quaint village nestled along the banks of the River Leven, situated at the southern end of Lake Windermere. Its name is derived from the distinguished five-arched stone bridge, constructed across the river in the year 1651. There's a curved weir just below Newby Bridge which controls the amount of water flowing into River Leven from Lake Windermere.

Perfect for balance bikes and kids of all ages- traffic-free smooth cycling.

Cartmel is an ancient village that is well known for its 12th century Priory that has ancient choir stalls, ornate stained glass windows and modern sculptures. The village has many pubs as well as L'Enclume, a highly regarded restaurant with 2 michelin stars and was named Britains best restaurant in the 2020 Good Food Guide.

What a great little cafe! We ate outside on benches part way through our Cumbria Coastal Way walk.

Piel Island can be found just beyond Roa Island in Morecambe Bay. It's around 50 acres in size and you can get there using a ferry from here. At low tide you could also take a guided walk over to Piel Island (note - it's unsafe to do so without a guide with local knowledge as the sands can be very dangerous).

Proper beer, no daft prices, good craic, booths are ret cumfeh, landlord is sound AF. Propah wukin' class pub, nuff said. Dog friendly too, if that's your wim, and I had no hassle propping the bike up against the booth (it was quiet on a midweek and asked v. politely!)

Once home to John Ruskin, England’s greatest art critic, thinker and social reformer, it now holds exhibitions, collections, music, talks, and has a theatre and cafe.The Terrace cafe is open every day 10 – 5 during summer and 10:30 – 4 over winter.
