For over 250 years, horses were used to transport goods between the docks and the factories. At their peak, up to 20,000 working horses made a significant contribution to Liverpool's economic importance. It wasn't until the 1950s that they were gradually replaced by motorized vehicles. The sculpture is by the famous equine sculptor Judy Boyt.

Originally built in 1969 as St John's Beacon, it initially housed a revolving restaurant. After a period of being derelict, it was refurbished and reopened in 2000 as the home of Radio City 96.7 (now Hits Radio Liverpool) and Magic 1548 (now Greatest Hits Radio). It functions as both a communications tower and a public observation deck.

The working horse statue in Liverpool, titled "Waiting," is a bronze monument located on the Pier Head, outside the Museum of Liverpool at the Albert Dock. The statue commemorates the vital role that working horses played in Liverpool's history for over 250 years, particularly in transporting goods to and from the docks.

1月 18, 2025, Fountain in Sefton Park
"The site of the park was once within the boundaries of the 2,300-acre Royal Deer Park of Toxteth which became "disparked" in 1591. The land eventually came under the Earl of Sefton's control. In 1867 the Council purchased 375 acres of land of the park's development for £250,000 from the Earl of Sefton. Sefton Park is one of the largest in the "ribbon of Parks" originally envisaged in 1850s by the Liverpool Improvement Committee and which came eventually to include Newsham and Stanley Parks. A European competition was launched to design a grand park. 29 entries were received and the competition was won by a French landscape architect Édouard André with work on the design also undertaken by Liverpool architect Lewis Hornblower. The park was opened on 20 May 1872 by Prince Arthur who dedicated it "for the health and enjoyment of the townspeople". Source: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sefton_Park

9月 28, 2024, St. John's Beacon (Radio City Tower)
The tower was not actually originally a television tower, but an exhaust chimney from the shopping center located there. It was built in 1965 and had a restaurant and an observation deck. However, after a fire in 1977, this was closed. In August 2000, the local radio station moved in. https://historic-liverpool.co.uk/an-aerial-point-of-view-st-johns-beacon-360/

8月 16, 2024, Liverpool Working Horse Monument 'Waiting'
This memorial commemorates the 250 years of service of Liverpool's workhorses. The horses transported goods between the docks and warehouses, working in all weathers. During World War II, Liverpool carters and their horses ensured the transport of food and fuel through the port. The carters were renowned for their skilful handling and the phenomenal weights they carried. Liverpool horses were considered the best in the country and their contribution to the city's economy was immense. Members of the Liverpool Retired Carters Association raised funds for 12 years to erect this memorial in honour of Liverpool's workhorse. It was unveiled on 1 May 2010 by the Lord Mayor Clir Mike Storey CBE.

Croxteth Hall is a country estate and Grade II* listed building in the West Derby suburb of Liverpool, England. It is the former country estate and ancestral home of the Molyneux family, the Earls of Sefton. After the death of the seventh and last Earl in 1972, the estate passed to Liverpool City Council, which now manages the remainder of the estate following the sale of approximately half of the grounds. The remaining grounds, Croxteth Park, were at one time a hunting chase of the Molyneux family and are now open to the public
