Bike park with trails and a skills area

The Nene Whitewater Centre is the UK’s first pumped, artificial whitewater course, offering activities for all skill levels – from families to seasoned kayakers. Located alongside the River Nene, the recently updated centre also features a fantastic café with indoor and outdoor seating, perfect for walkers and cyclists stopping by for hot or cold refreshments.

Pretty crossing over the River Nene with opportunities to deter from the path slightly and get closer to the river. The spot under the tree is a great place for a picnic during the warmer months.

This picturesque stretch of gravel trail runs along the Northampton Arm of the Grand Union Canal, offering charming views of canal boats and historic bridges to admire along the way.

This 900-year-old historic house is a wonderful day out if you're looking for a touch of history. Entry typically costs £5, which includes access to both the house and its grounds. The Abbey offers a mix of events and exhibitions, often revolving around the history of sports and local heritage. Regular visiting hours are from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM, available on Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays​

Visit Delapre Woods just next to the car park for some extra fun!

Nice bit of riding to be had through the many different routes through the woods that have evolved over the decades. Bear in mind it's not a bike park or trail centre (Northampton Bike Park is on the other side of the dual carriageway for that), so expect dog walkers, joggers, family walks, etc... be polite & respectful so we can keep enjoying the woods together 👍

Great bike park for all abilities, well maintained trails with easy to follow signs. Great fun 👍

Good spot for practicing cornering, jumps etc. Suffering a bit with getting parts washed away with the persistent rain we have had just lately (Dec-Jan 2022-23).

Be careful if you use the car park - there are charges and the instructions are not clear. Quite a few people have been fined because they misunderstood the instructions. It says the first hour is free then £X for 2 hours £Y for 3 hours (or similar); so people think if they pay for 2 hours they get 3. I think it should say UP TO 1 hour free. UP TO 2 hours £X etc. You have to use the app to book in and pay as soon as you arrive I think. Anyway check the instructions very thoroughly.

The former Hardingstone 9 golf course has been transformed into a new 40-acre specialist urban Mountain Bike Park. There's 9 trails in total, ranging from flowy green, a number of blues including a dual track, all the way up to black flow and jump trails... there's something for everyone. It's free to ride and paid parking, with the parking fees going towards the upkeep of the park.

Fantastic cafe located at the back of the Northampton Active white water centre building. Serving hot and cold drinks and food, ideal for passing walkers and cyclists. Inside and outside seating are both available.

Might not be much to look at to the uninitiated, but it's an interesting piece of engineering going on here to cram everything in... as well as the canal lock with it's wall art, look up and you have Britain's first motorway passing directly over you head - junction 15a of the M1. Also a handy place to wait out the rain!

Hunsbury Hill proper is little hard to find as it's surrounded by dense trees and shrubs on all sides, but keep following the paths and you will eventually see the unmistakable remnants of the deep ditch that surrounds the central open area. The iron age hill fort has seen its fair share of damage and looting over the past 200 years but is now designated a Scheduled Ancient Monument and plays host to Viking re-enactments during the summer. I have purchased a few hand carved items from the small but well organised group.
