On October 14, 2022, Henningsvær was declared a cultural landscape of national value by the King in Council. The protection regulations emphasize that Henningsvær should continue to be a vibrant place with housing, fishing, commerce, and tourism. The principle is "protection through use." Protection does not prevent the preservation of the area for development for commercial activities based on established ecological and cultural-historical values.

Lofoten Cathedral was built to accommodate all the fishermen who came to Kabelvåg during the seasons and has 1200 seats. The altar comes from the old church and shows Gethsemane motifs. The middle and largest picture shows Jesus and an angel.

The "Cathedral of Lofoten" is the nickname of Vågan Church. The church was consecrated in October 1898 and can be visited for 50 NOK

for someone who is not afraid of heights :)

The coffee, brownies and almond croissants at Trevarefabrikken are particularly recommended. Various events are also often held there.

Henningsvær is the most famous fishing village in Lofoten. The picturesque fishing village is also known as the "Venice of the North" because it has an original charm and is surrounded by water on all sides. Colorful residential and commercial buildings, small cafes and workshops form the core of the village, which is surrounded by impressive drying racks for stockfish. The heart of the fishing village is the harbor, which is also the starting point for the main street of the village.
