The shelter is the Børgefjell Viewpoint, which can also be reached as part of a circular hike. The eastern path is paved with wooden planks. If you continue beyond the Børgefjell Viewpoint, the path is marked only with poles and leads through damp and partly swampy terrain.

The area around Trones in Namsskogan is rich in wildlife, benefiting from its proximity to Børgefjell National Park. Large mammals like moose, and less frequently bear, lynx, and wolverine, roam the forests and mountains. Semi-domesticated reindeer graze in the area, and a variety of birdlife, including eagles and ptarmigan, can be spotted. Off the E6 is a former campsite. The sanitary facilities are no longer in use. The place is mainly used by Germans as a WoMo parking space, as it is listed in a parking space app. However, near the bathing jetty in the south of the facility there is a small meadow that is good for camping.

This massive wooden bridge leads over a narrow part of the river to a rustic refuge that is open to one side.
