The Coo waterfall is artificial. Starting from a simple waterfall that appeared in the 15th century, the monks of Stavelot Abbey dug the large waterfall, crossing a meander of the river, to protect the village of Petit-Coo. The fact remains that it is very impressive and at its height of 15 meters is the pride of Belgium.

This waterfall was named after Queen Marie-Henriette, the wife of King Leopold II. A slightly larger waterfall upstream was dedicated to King Leopold II. Both waterfalls were inaugurated by the Queen on November 29, 1899.

Pretty little waterfall. One of the most beautiful places in the entire valley. You should definitely plan a little more time here and take a short break.

Beautiful area for walking / hiking. Lots of variety and heights and bridges. The waterfalls come down gracefully. Nice variety of trees. Good that this gentleman thought +/- 100 years ago to also use this for tourism

Wonderfully wild water. 💕 Often enough I have hiked to "waterfalls" that ended up being just disappointing little streams that trickled over a small rocky step. You may know that too. 😉 But these waterfalls really deserve their name (especially now in spring). 👍 The water is wonderfully loud.
