The bridge itself isn't much. There are actually two of the same type just a few hundred meters apart. Both cross the Gaverbeek stream, which runs parallel to the Trimaarzate, the green walking and cycling route on the old Ronse-Kortrijk railway line. The bridges allow you to walk through the grass on the other side of the Gaverbeek (although not yet designated as a walking path on Komoot, it is certainly easily walkable) instead of on the paved Trimaarzate.

Until 1983, the last 300 meters of line 271 000, Roubaix-Wattrelos, ran here. At the other end, it connected to Belgian line 85 to Leupegem, Oudenaarde. The only 3.6 km long and never electrified line 271 000 no longer carried passenger trains after 1932.

The Oudenaarde courthouse is an imposing neo-Gothic complex from the interwar period, built between 1922 and 1925 to a design by architect Henri Valcke. The style deliberately references Brabant Gothic, allowing the building to blend seamlessly with the city's historic architecture. The courthouse stands on the site of the former monastery of Sion, which was destroyed by fire in 1745.

The Pamele Church shines on the right bank of the Scheldt and is one of the most beautiful examples of Scheldt Gothic, a transitional style between Romanesque and Gothic.

A very enjoyable section to ride. Striking areas of sandy soil whose color differs from the rest. Some nice steep downhill sections. Reasonable speeds are possible, but technically challenging.

Relax in nature

The Oudenaarde courthouse is a neo-Gothic building in the Belgian city of Oudenaarde. It houses the East Flanders division Oudenaarde court of first instance. Behind the building is the prison of Oudenaarde.
