A castle steeped in history. Nearby (less than 3km away) are the ruins of Baron Hofschmidt's Hermitage, featuring famous poems by Lamartine, Boileau, and others, engraved directly into the rock with exceptional calligraphy.

At the bend of the Lesse, we discover an unusual bridge guardian. A prominent snout, ocher reflections, the sculpture, an improbable assembly of metal pieces, does not fail to intrigue.

Resteigne Castle is a sturdy 18th-century castle located near the picturesque bridge over the Lesse River. It has a long and rich history, dating back to the 12th century, when it belonged to the Loraine family. It has changed hands several times over the centuries, passing to the Berlo, Mérode, Rouveroy, and Hoffschmidt families. The castle is now privately owned but can be rented for events and weddings.

The patronage of this church, "Maria (or in another spelling:) Assumption of Mary", refers to one of the many memorial days or feast days in honor of the Mother of God Mary. The three letters OLV in the highlight name stand for "Onze Lieve Vrouw". The occasion mentioned in the patronage of this church, "Hemelvaart", goes back to the feast of her bodily assumption into heaven, which the (Catholic) Church celebrates annually on August 15th. In the Orthodox churches, the feast is called "Maria Dormition". In many rural areas, it is customary for the population to collect bundles of herbs (called "Kruggweusch" in the Rhenish dialect) on this day and to bless them in the festival service.
