The Château Rose was built by order of Albert-Pierre Stier (1745-1816). In 1776, he bought the seigniory of Orp, as it had been known since the end of the 17th century, when the land of Orp-le-Grand was merged with that of Orp-le-Petit. The pillory of Orp-le-Petit at the front is one of about fifty in Belgium that are listed by the Royal Institute for Cultural Heritage. When our country was invaded by France in 1794, the French revolutionaries rushed to abolish the symbols of the Ancien Régime and the pillory was demolished. A few years later, around 1826, Baron Jean-François de Vinck de deux Orp (1774-1827), nephew of the builder of the castle, had the restored elements of the pillory rebuilt on his estate, more specifically in the central part of the meadow below the castle. Former collegiate church. Beautiful homogeneous building, situated on the hill that dominates the landscape, built in 1744 by the Leuven architect J.A. Hustin. Chronogram on the large cartouche in the west facade of the tower. The plan unfolds three naves of six bays on pillars behind a high tower of bluestone, crowned with an onion-shaped roofing, and two side portals with a baroque influence (shell motifs but also niches and contoured volutes). A long choir, flanked by outbuildings, ends in a semicircular apse that is lit by two window registers. Brick nave, punctuated on the outside by classicist pilasters of bluestone, and sandstone segmental arch windows with few projecting keys. Rich and stately interior enlivened with yellow and white stucco and numerous Louis XV ornaments (keys, cartouches under the entablature, upper wall panels, pillar shafts, belt arches of the barrel vault). Pillars on bluestone bases, crowned with composite capitals decorated with putti heads. Side aisles covered with Bohemian caps. From this side of the Meuse, you have a beautiful view of the imposing fortress that towers high above the river and the city. The stone ramparts and green slopes of the Citadel stand out sharply against the sky, making for an atmospheric and photogenic picture. An ideal spot to admire the grandeur of the Citadel from a distance and to let the charm of Namur sink in.
