For visitors, the Modave Nature Reserve offers numerous hiking trails that start at the Château de Modave and lead through the diverse landscape. These trails allow you to experience the natural beauty and biodiversity of the area up close. A special feature of the area is the colony of greater horseshoe bats, one of the most endangered bat species in Europe, which has taken up residence in the attics of the Château de Modave.

Very pleasant for walking

The Modave nature reserve extends over more than 370 ha on the properties of the Vivaqua company. Mainly forest, the nature reserve nevertheless includes some lawns on limestone and beautiful wet wastelands along the river (the Hoyoux). Management will aim to maintain one of these areas and to remove the material that has been previously mown. (bron: natagora.be)

Built in the Middle Ages, only the keep and a few architectural elements remain from that period. After its partial destruction in the mid-17th century, it was restored and transformed into an elegant pleasure palace. The French-style park and gardens, redesigned in the 19th century, are part of the Parks and Gardens of Wallonia, designated as an exceptional cultural heritage site. The Roche aux Corbeaux is a rock massif in the Belgian Ardennes, near the village of Bohon. It is a popular destination for climbers, who can find around 20 routes, mainly in grades 5 and 61. The massif is located on the grounds of Vivaqua, a water company, and is therefore not freely accessible. Climbers must apply for permission from the Climbing and Mountaineering Federation (KBF) to be allowed to climb there.

Modave Castle is surrounded by a beautiful park, which is part of a 450 hectare nature reserve. You can enjoy the French gardens, the views of the valley, and the walks in the woods.
