The Hovaeremolen is a stone grain and oil windmill. As early as 1705, the mill (then still a wooden post) appears on the "Omloperkaart" (map of the city's roads). During the First World War, the German occupying forces used the mill as an observation post. The mill had to operate for the Germans on command. The passageway in the mill hill served as an army kitchen. Protected monument In 1968, the municipality purchased the mill, which became a protected monument in 1973. In 1988, the building came into the hands of the non-profit organization Hovaeremolen, which had it restored in 1996-1998.
