美しいスヘルデ川の渡り

As a cyclist, you ride straight into the town hall. The Scheldt pedestrian and cyclist bridge provides an elegant, modern crossing between the towpath and the center of Wetteren. The wide ramps eliminate the need for the old footbridge and stairs, giving the bridge a flowing, accessible line. From the highest point, you have an unobstructed view of the Scheldt, the dikes, and the green river plain.

On the Rode Heuvel in Wetteren, artist Cazn painted a monumental portrait of singer Wim De Craene. The work covers approximately 80 m² and is a powerful tribute to one of Flanders' most recognizable voices. The mural stands in the heart of the residential area and immediately catches the eye with its warm colors and soft, almost photographic lines.

The Red Hill in Wetteren is named after the song "Rode Heuvel" (Red Hill) by Wim De Craene from 1973, a successful Dutch-language cover of a French original (Montéhus) with a Dutch translation by Jaap van de Merwe.
