The Mount Caucasus area in Liguria was a true bastion of the Resistance during World War II, particularly for partisan groups active in the Genoese hinterland and eastern Liguria. Its hills and woods provided an excellent base for the GL-Matteotti Brigade and detachments of the more famous Garibaldi "Cichero" Brigade. The area was crucial because it allowed for control of the connections between the coast and the Trebbia Valley. The village of Barbagelata, in particular, paid a heavy price: after serving as a focal point for the rebels, it suffered a brutal Nazi-Fascist raid in August 1944. The fascists burned and looted the village, also murdering three local farmers.

Montebruno has a very ancient history, linked to the fact that it is located along the road, running through the Trebbia Valley, which connected Genoa with Piacenza (and therefore the Po Valley). For this reason it has always been at the center of disputes between the potentates who succeeded one another over the centuries. Today it is located in the Antola Park and at the same time on the border of the Aveto Park, therefore in the heart of an area with enormous landscape and natural qualities.

Torriglia is famous for the alleged sighting of extra-terrestrials. In fact, Pier Fortunato Zanfretta claimed to have experienced, between 1978 and 1981, eleven episodes of close encounters of the third and fourth type with reptilian-type extraterrestrial living beings in the area surrounding Torriglia. Other witnesses, also residents in the Torriglia area, declared that they had also been the protagonists of sightings of 'very large and bright flying objects'.
