The "Altes Amtshaus" (Old Office Building) is a baroque clay-timbered building dating from 1730 and located behind St. Alexander's Church on the "Herrlichkeit" square. It was built as an official residence after Wildeshausen became part of the Electorate of Hanover in 1719. Later, the land registry office and the district court were housed here. Today, the "Altes Amtshaus" houses a charming restaurant with a beautiful garden in the idyllic neighborhood of St. Alexander's Church and other historic buildings.
