Stunning panorama (Zita Pass)

The step of the Zita or "the step of the fiancée" tells a sad story from the Middle Ages of the death of a girl named Caterina. The story tells of a girl who kills herself because she doesn't want to marry the man chosen for her. Legend says that she was in love with someone else.

Bova is a picturesque municipality, recognized as one of the most beautiful villages in Italy and also known as the capital of Greek culture of Calabria. Perched on the eastern slopes of Aspromonte, it offers breathtaking views and fascinating monuments, such as the Co-Cathedral of the Madonna dell'Isodia, a jewel of Norman art.

Palizzi is a classic village of Greek origin with a castle located on a cliff, a historic center from the Middle Ages and a fourteenth-century bridge called 'dello schiccio' under which the fumara di Palizzi flows.

This pass, above Bova, owes its name to a medieval legend of a certain Caterina, the Zita, i.e. the fiancée. Legend has it that she committed suicide in order not to marry the man she was destined for, as she was in love with another man

Rocca del Drago called in dialect "Rokka du Traku" for its resemblance to a three-eyed dragon. It would seem that these were created by human hand, perhaps in the Neolithic age. According to some, it is simply a bizarre work of nature. Legend has it that a blind dragon lived under the rock and fed on the milk contained in rocky compartments, hence the name milk boilers. Another legend has it that the dragon guarded a treasure right there that would have been discovered by anyone who had offered a kid, a completely black cat and a child as a sacrifice.
