ニーダーエスターライヒ州トライズマウアーにあるトライズ川の河口は、技術と自然がどのようにうまく調和できるかを示す魅力的な例です。ここではトライズ川がドナウ川に合流しますが、かつては今日ほど牧歌的ではありませんでした。元々、トライズ川は約7.5キロメートル上流で合流していました。1970年代にドナウ川のアルテンヴェルト水力発電所が建設されたことで、すべてが変わりました。発電所のためにドナウ川の水位が上昇したため、トライズ川は自然に流れ出ることができなくなりました。そのため、まったく新しい川床を掘削する必要がありました。

The route is particularly atmospheric in the morning or evening hours when the light is low and bathes the surroundings in warm colors. Thanks to the gentle topography, this section is not only scenic but also extremely comfortable to cycle. The cycle path between the Danube and the Krems rivers is in excellent condition: newly paved, wide, and level – ideal for cyclists of all experience levels. It runs directly along the water and, due to its open location, offers impressive views of the river landscape. On one side lies the tranquil Danube with its banks, while on the other, renaturalized, near-natural ditches and meadows accompany the path.

The section of the cycle path from the Tisza to the Danube leads from the Krems Bridge through a densely vegetated landscape, where the path winds between tall grasses and overhanging trees. In places, the vegetation reaches right up to the path, conveying a sense of seclusion and tranquility. This section is particularly attractive for cyclists, as it offers an intense nature experience and impressively conveys the transition from the open countryside to the Danube.

Not far from the Schütt, a simple bridge spans the Krems River, nestled in the expansive floodplain landscape where the river flows leisurely through meadows and fields. Especially in the early morning or late evening hours, the soft light bathes the surroundings in warm colors, lending the place a tranquil, almost meditative atmosphere. This quiet passage is ideal for a short break on a bike tour through the Lower Austrian lowlands. The interplay of water, wind, and open landscape makes it an atmospheric natural moment along the trail.
