Arona is the reference city of southern Lake Maggiore on the Piedmontese shore. A very beautiful cycle path was recently created along the lake where you can see some ancient Roman walls. There are a lot of amenities, it's worth a visit.

One of the larger places on the southern Lago and therefore automatically quite touristy again. Very nice, partly typical center (town hall and church are worth seeing), but less special than in other towns along the river. The statue just above is the main goal for most.

One of the few saints who are also highly valued outside of Christianity is San Francesco, known in German-speaking countries as Francis of Assisi.
