The Nischiuarch Alpine Hut is located in a beautiful grassy valley west of the mountain of the same name. Located at just under 1,200 meters above sea level, it is a convenient base at the eastern end of the long Musi mountain range. Completely renovated, the hut consists of two buildings: the one that is always open has a ground-floor room with a stove, table, bench, and adjoining cellar, while upstairs there are a couple of bed frames with mattresses. It can be reached from S. Anna di Carnizza in about an hour, or via CAI trail no. 739, Passo Tanamea, in the municipality of Lusevera, S.S. 646, in about an hour and a half. Useful Information - Water: Non-potable, but available depending on seasonal weather conditions - Beds: 6 - Wood-burning stove, some dishes, small pantry with basic necessities - Firewood: A small supply is available at the facility or easily found in the surrounding woods The facility also has 14 additional beds in the area reserved for recognized institutions and associations. Keys can be requested by emailing info@parcoprealpigiulie.it Shelters are a valuable asset to our area, providing hikers with a valuable base for trekking. When using them, it is important not to leave any traces of your presence, so we recommend: - Do not leave food easily accessible to mice and other animals; - Clean common areas; - Take all waste down to the valley. This facility is always open and unmanaged; maintenance is handled by the Park Authority with the essential contribution of local volunteers and all users! The reservoir's water comes from the Glijun Stream, fed by subterranean waters in the Kaning Mountains. The stream is one of the rare karst springs that never runs dry. The lake's water flows via a kilometer-long concrete canal into the Pluzna hydroelectric power plant.

Plužna Lake or Plužensko Lake is a water reservoir near the Virje waterfall near Bovec. The lake is fed by the Gljun stream and has a constant temperature of 5.5 degrees. From the lake you can enjoy a beautiful panoramic view of the mountains. Swimming is not possible in this lake! The water of the lake flows steeply down a kilometer-long concrete canal into the Plužna hydroelectric power station, which has been in operation since 1931. The film Narnia was filmed on this stream at the mouth of the Soča river.

The southern ascent begins on the SP110 coming from Via Guiseppe Mazzini. The first part leads relatively sharply up along the river before crossing it and turning right. From here, things really get going. Following several bends and straights, you reach a bridge after about 3.8 to 4 km and change from the west to the east flank of the mountain. Here you come to a relatively dark passage in a tunnel, but lights are recommended. Shortly after that, there is a second, unlit but very short tunnel. Shortly after that, you change back to the west flank. From here, a winding ascent begins with lots of bends, which repeatedly offers different perspectives back. The only problem here is the gradient of over 9 percent and more, so that (unfortunately) you tend to look at your handlebars as you drive up the mountain and hope that it will finally end. It's a very nice drive up, with impressive rock faces appearing next to you as you follow the winding road past all sorts of monuments. Once you get to the top, you're glad you survived the mountain, as the local mountains are characterized by their lack of rhythm and steepness. At the top, there are various restaurants and a total of three possible pass signs: directly at the "Al Gallo Forcello" hotel, in the middle of the lake, which is located above, and at the former border crossing.

This small reservoir is located not far from the source of the Glijun, on the way to a small hydroelectric power station. When the light is right, its calm water surface is ideal for photos with a reflection of the mountain panorama behind it.

Absolutely great waterfall, with seating, about a 10-minute walk from the paid parking lot.
