The founding of the Protestant parish of Stainz is a direct result of the Get-away-from-Rome movement. The driving force was the lawyer Alois Kogler, who converted to Protestantism, and in whose apartment the first Protestant services were held in 1899. The Peace Church ⛪ in Stainz, built in 1901 by Georg Hönel, with its polygonal apse and the tower standing on the side and crowned by stepped gables and a ridge turret, is designed in the spirit of a smaller country church of the Middle Ages, but kept in free historical forms.
