The Benedictine Court of Correzzola was built around the 15th century, and was created as an operational center for the impressive reclamation work of the Saccisica territory started by the friars of Santa Giustina in 1129. The Benedictine Court is a huge rural complex that was strategically built along the course of the Bacchiglione river, in an ideal position for communication with both Padua and Chioggia. The enormous structure housed both the friars, but also all the professional figures essential for the operation, maintenance and administration of this enormous estate. There were also bread ovens, cellars for distilling brandy, weaving workshops, stables, wells, vegetable gardens, gardens and a large stable that could hold up to 100 horses. The presence of ecclesiastics in the structure was always modest as it was not a primarily religious structure, but rather a "large factory" of the Benedictine order of Santa Giustina.
