Montoggio is a village in the Genoese hinterland, nestled among the woods and hills of the upper Bisagno Valley. It's located about thirty kilometers from Genoa, but the atmosphere is completely different: the landscape here is made up of tranquil valleys, clear streams, and small clusters of houses scattered among meadows and chestnut groves. Dominating the village from above are the ruins of the Fieschi Castle, which controlled the valley in the Middle Ages and was the scene of clashes between ancient Ligurian noble families, leaving behind an aura of history that blends harmoniously with the tranquility of the surrounding nature.

Montebruno has a very ancient history, linked to the fact that it is located along the road, running through the Trebbia Valley, which connected Genoa with Piacenza (and therefore the Po Valley). For this reason it has always been at the center of disputes between the potentates who succeeded one another over the centuries. Today it is located in the Antola Park and at the same time on the border of the Aveto Park, therefore in the heart of an area with enormous landscape and natural qualities.

The Church of SS Annunziata del Vastato has a neoclassical façade with two eighteenth-century bell towers and a grandiose pronaos with six Ionic columns. It was built in 1867 based on designs by Carlo Barabino, reworked by Giovanni Battista Resasco. It conceals a Baroque Latin cross plan, dominated by the large dome with the fresco by Andrea Ansaldo depicting “The Assumption of Mary”. It is made magnificent by polychrome marbles, gilded stuccos and frescoes representing “the mystery of the Annunciation” and “the Assumption”. In the naves and on the altars we can admire an infinite series of great pictorial works by extraordinary artists of the Genoese school and beyond: Procaccini, Domenico Piola, Domenico Fiasella, Anton Maria Maragliano, Luca Cambiaso and many others.

Located at the eastern end of the Vittorio Veneto seafront, surrounded by the sea and connected to the mainland by a pier, its unmistakable silhouette is one of the symbols of the city of Rapallo.
