Appennino bike tourのルート沿いにあり、Voltaggioから登ると、景色も交通量がないことも、両方とも非常に満足のいく簡単な登りです。

Appennino bike tour のメインルートを離れて、村に入ります。狭い通りがある小さな村です。行く価値があります。

Saint Stephen (Santo Stefano), the patron saint of this church, was one of the first seven deacons of the early Christian community in Jerusalem and the first martyr of early Christianity. The Church commemorates him on the second day of Christmas, December 26. When Stephen, filled with the Holy Spirit, loudly proclaimed his vision of heaven opening – “But when he looked up into heaven, he saw the glory of God and Jesus standing at the right hand of God” (Acts 7:55) – the people were so outraged that they drove him out of the city and stoned him.

Country church on the corner of an important crossroads marked by the traffic light, a crossing point for various itineraries. It seems that there was a road that started from Genoa, through the Bocchetta pass, reached Gavi and, having crossed the Orba, through San Giacomo and Riosecco, touched Carpeneto near Cascina Vecchia, to then descend towards Acqui and from there reach France and Spain, and therefore the much sought-after sanctuary of Sant’Jago di Compostela. This hypothesis can be supported by the cult of San Giacomo in the homonymous hamlet of Rocca Grimalda, and by a series of farmhouses in the area with names referable to Spain.
