車のないイタリア（本土）で唯一の町であるという特徴から、「アルプスの真珠」コンソーシアムに加盟しています。実際、そこへ行くには徒歩、自転車、またはロープウェイでのみ可能です。
かつては、93のカーブを持つ歴史的な馬車道「レ・セングル」がシャモニーへの唯一の連絡路でした。ブイソンから出発し、数時間の厳しいハイキングの後でしか到着できませんでした。
今日ではすべてがより簡単になり、ラ・マドレーヌのコルニャラ地区から便利な小道が始まり、1時間ほどの簡単な散歩で目的地に到着できます。
シャモニーに到着すると、教会と市庁舎のある美しい広場が私たちを待っています。ここから、その集落全体が伸びています。到着して最初に感じるのは、絶対的な静寂、車や交通のない、時間が止まったかのような小さな山の町の平和と静けさです。
広場からは、町にある3つのリフトのうちの1つも出発しています。ここから、5分で標高2015メートルのロド湖に到着するリフトに乗ることができます。湖畔にはピクニックエリアが整備されており、周辺にはいくつかのレストランもあります。
ロド湖へは、町から徒歩で、小道または便利な未舗装の車道を通って、約30〜40分の簡単な散歩でも行くことができます。ルートはよく整備されており、町から始まります。
湖からは、3号線とかなり急な馬車道に沿って、ファリネール峰まで登り、クラヴァリテ聖域（標高2530メートル）に到達することができます。
シャモニーは冬にも非常に美しい場所で、スキー場がオープンし、町はスキーヤーやスノーシューハイカーで賑わいます。

In the winter, Alpe Tza de Fontaney is the end point of a snowshoe trail that starts from the cross-country ski center. This well-marked trail is very popular, and is therefore usually well-groomed. The climb out of the forest to reach the mountain pasture can be quite challenging when faced with deep, soft snow.
