Valesio, a Messapian center, then Greek and subsequently Roman, developed near the "Infocaciucci" navigable canal, which was navigable at the time. The church is recent and not of particular interest but the surrounding area is mystical. It is dedicated to Sant'Antonio da Padova but curiously on the day of Sant'Antonio Abate, January 17, the focara lights up.
