Chiusdino is a wonderful medieval village located in the Merse Valley among the Metalliferous Hills. Its origins date back to the Lombard domination of Tuscany between 568 and 569. The town still retains its medieval appearance and some sections of the double city walls. It is also possible to find medieval houses, including the alleged house of San Galgano (Galgano Guidotti), where the saint is believed to have been born around 1150.

"L'amore salva il mondo" - the sculptor Andrea Roggi donated his most photographed work "Love Saves the World" to Siena.

Great photo opportunity of Siena and the cathedral complex from a different angle, which is easy to reach on foot. Of course, you are not alone here and if you are unlucky, you have to wait for a few Instafluencers who cannot take enough pictures for their story and therefore stand in the picture endlessly. But that is not the fault of the viewpoint... ;-)

There is also a small town museum here. The entrance fee of €5 (Sept 2024) also entitles you to visit the Abbey of San Galgano.

The Strade bianche parts were fantastic, but sections of the route were through wheat fields and along tracks chest high with nettles and brambles. Suggest needs an edit!
