In the summer it is better to come early so as not to find too many people along the road and on the beach (there is a limited number of places to stop on the beach which you must book, but you can take a quick look). From Portiglione you can reach Cala Violina with a normal trekking bike in about 30 minutes. Two or three times we had to push a few meters because of rubble... no big deal. We are both over 50 and not particularly trained. The wonderful view of the sea from far above and, last but not least, Cala Violina makes the effort well worth it.
