The convent was founded in the 19th century and housed the Lower Austrian State Kindergarten until 1998. Klosterplatz is part of Sitzendorf's historic town center and is located in the immediate vicinity of the main square, which is characterized by 16th-century townhouses. The monastery itself is an important part of Sitzendorf's history and townscape.
