from Raccontiamo Novara: "Dulcis Aquae" In the verdant countryside that stretches between Caltignaga and Bellinzago, on the hills that characterize the Terdoppio valley, nestled between some fountains of pure water, is the great Abbey of "Dulcis Aquae", which over time became "Dulzago". The Badìa complex dates back to the 12th century and immediately became a place of worship with a canonical seat as well as an agricultural center where monks and peasants working together reclaimed the surrounding territories, making them fertile and productive. The Abbey was a small world unto itself where the church, the houses of the Canons, the colonists, chicken coops, stables, pigsty and cemetery were located, a place where it was possible to live independently away from the outside world.
