最初の計画は1781年に建築家ヴィルヘルム・バイヤーによって立てられました。 この湖は1895年から1897年の建設当時、ウィーンタール水道の水源としてのみ使用され、最近まで飲料水貯水池として使用されていました。長さ240メートル、高さ13メートルのダムによって作られたこの貯水池の容量は、当時1,430,000立方メートルでした。
