In the 16th century, a house that belonged to the Soetern family stood on the site of the current town hall. After several changes of ownership and renovations and new buildings, in 1824 Duchess Luise moved to St. Wendel and into this very house. It was now called the “Ducal Palace” and the square was named after it. In 1857, the large building became the property of the town and from 1922 it was the town hall of St. Wendel.

The Weiselberg is a 569.5 m above sea level mountain in the North Palatinate Mountains near Oberkirchen in the St. Wendel district of Saarland. The Weiselberg is forested throughout, particularly in its higher elevations, and is a home to rare plant species. It was declared a nature reserve in 1950.
