Beautiful area to be in nature

The Königsworth Bridge is arguably one of the most beautiful in all of Hanover. This segmental arch bridge, faced with natural stone, was built towards the end of the 19th century. Particularly unique are the sea creatures with their lavish ornamentation, sculpted by Carl Dopmeyer – a fantastic relic of urban grandeur from the fin de siècle.

The mouth of the Fösse River is located in the Limmer district of Hanover, where the small river flows into the Leine after about 8 km – very close to the Leine Connection Canal. The Fösse River is a rather inconspicuous but ecologically interesting body of water. Due to saline inflows from the Benth salt dome and former potash mining dumps, it has an unusually high salinity – in some places even higher than that of the North Sea.

The shore is lined with trees, sculptures, and cafés that invite you to linger. The view over the lake is particularly impressive, with the waters reflecting picturesquely in the Maschteich pond when the water is calm ✨.
