A few dozen meters of dirt road to visit this beautiful place: covered fountain (this is the intuitive translation) dates back to 1,200 BC and is absolutely worth knowing. At the entrance to the dirt road there is a descriptive panel of the place.

An easy path along the Flumendosa.

The Pranu Muttedu Park takes the nickname "Sardinian Stonehenge" because it seems to date back to an age before the renowned British monument. The archaeological site is among the largest in Sardinia.

The church of San Nicola Quirra is a splendid example of a rock church. Built in the 12th century using locally produced terracotta bricks. It's a good place to take a break in the shade of the trees.

The Church of San Nicola might seem like a simple little church, but it is one of the two Romanesque churches in Sardinia built entirely of terracotta bricks. It was built between the 12th and 13th centuries. From here you can see the Castello di Quirra, which dates back to the same period. The road that leads to the church, despite being paved, offers suggestive panoramas and is often not very busy.

A nice, smooth and less steep shortcut for the official TranSardinia route.

This was a bit of an emergency spot for us due to weather and few daylight hours in October, but it turned out to be a really cozy spot to pitch up for the night. Lift your bike over the rock wall, set up late and pack up early. Leave no trace!
