A summit cross rises on Monte Retaia - although not at the highest point of the mountain, but in an impressive location. Calvana is a mountain ridge between the Pistoiese-Pratese Apennines and the Mugello in the area between Prato and Calenzano. Partly quite barren place with shrubby vegetation in the hilly part and grassland areas with wooded sections towards the ridges.
