They stand on artificial turf that covers the entire interior of the roundabout. The figures do not represent real players, but rather represent the "Eleven Friends" of a soccer team. The team does not refer to a specific soccer club, but symbolically represents the 1. FC Kaiserslautern team. The base is adorned with the saying that appears on the former "Victoria" championship trophy: "You must be Eleven Friends if you want to win victories." You pass the Elf-Freunde roundabout on your way up from the main train station to the stadium on the Betzenberg.
