From Campodimele it's about ten kilometers of pedaled and shaded climb

Worsened, many rocks and landslides. Some sections are risky to cover on foot. I do not recommend mountain biking, suggestive panorama.

Originally known as "Le Crocette", from June 2022 the steep climb is now a tribute to the Pirate, Marco Pantani, who even without training, during an outing in preparation for the races, detached the group on this stretch. At the top of the climb there is a statue dedicated to the cyclist.

Route made in July 2022. Leaving aside the view which is remarkable, everything is pedaled. Of course, attention must be paid both uphill and especially downhill. Don't forget the repair kit, rocks cut very easily.

The climb up the Passo San Nicola from the northern side is much easier than from the south. Steepest section is around 6%, but most of the climb is in the 3-4% region. At the top you do not have wide view, however if you decent towards the southern side you get a lot of views of the valley towards Itri.

I walked this stretch of the path about a month ago, and I must say that, compared to a year ago, it is much more passable, despite the fact that you have to be very careful. Apart from that, the view is simply impressive.

In Roman times the town planning of Fondi was developed according to the scheme of the military camp, still clearly recognizable in the historic center. It was quadrangular in shape, originating from the intersection of two main streets: the Decumano Massimo (Corso Appio Claudio) and the Cardine Massimo and completely surrounded by perimeter walls (still visible). Along each side, in correspondence with the main streets, there were 4 entrance doors. Of this, the only one to have kept its original structure intact is the "Portella", located to the east of the city center, at the Cardine Massimo. This was preceded by two square towers and, between one and the other tower, there is an arch supported by piers on which the rails intended for the sliding of the portcullis are still visible.
