The Palazzo Ducale in Urbino is a Renaissance palace and houses the famous Renaissance picture gallery of the Marche.

A very nice place for the monument to Raphael. Very nice, well-kept park all around.

Piazza Rinascimento in Urbino was transformed thanks to Federico di Montefeltro who, by starting the construction of the new palace with a winged façade, changed its appearance. Some medieval elements of the castle are still visible, such as the Ghibelline battlements. These contrast with the large windows with travertine frames that reflect the transformation into a palace. In the center of the square stands an Egyptian obelisk, commissioned by Cardinal Annibale Albani in 1737. The Cathedral of Santa Maria, built in 1063, was involved in the works of the Palazzo Ducale commissioned by Federico da Montefeltro. Damaged by earthquakes in 1604, 1787 and 1997, the Cathedral was rebuilt in 1789.

..... all I would add is that the toilets are clean and free for public use. An impressive inner courtyard and part of it is free to enter.

The Palazzo Ducale is the main monument of the city of Urbino and one of the most interesting artistic-architectural examples of the Italian Renaissance. It is home to the National Gallery of the Marche and the Archaeological Lapidary Museum.
