Climbing this peak in winter is a small undertaking, as reaching it involves a 25- to 30-kilometer round trip and about 1,000 meters of elevation gain, starting from Campomulo (Gallio cross-country skiing center). Once you've conquered it, however, it fills your heart and mind.

From this summit, the plateau of the 7 municipalities shows itself in all its immense beauty.

Spectacular views in every direction. The numerous remains of the Great War buildings and the suffering of the soldiers who lived there for years are a source of reflection.

Cima della Caldiera is one of the highest peaks of the Asiago plateau 2124 meters. It has an important view of the entire plateau but also of the other surrounding peaks starting from Ortigara, peak 12, Portule; as well as of Valsugana, peak d'Asta and the Pale di San Martino. It is known for the war events of the Great War: from here the attack on the Austrian positions on Ortigara started.

Spectacular labyrinth, worth a visit and I assure you it will remain etched in your mind. A succession of ups and downs, narrow walls, passages between narrow rocks, panoramic points, ladders. I think one of the most beautiful labyrinth routes in the area 😍🤩

Altitude 2124 and crazy 360° view. To climb to the top it takes a few minutes and good balance.

It was an attempt; unfortunately a mistake in taking the road to Cima del Cauriol, first and secondly a violent storm made us give up. We were climbing in a clockwise direction, keeping to the left we failed to stay to the right and therefore climb up the saddle that remains between the small Cauriol and the Grande. We went towards a Forcella which coincides with the mule track of the Austrian Line. Arrived at a certain point, don't be convinced to turn around, we cut on the stony ground to go and take the marked path. Very risky, not advisable, I would say reckless. Once we rejoined the main path, however, the rain made us abort and at only 150m of altitude from the middle we resumed our way to the starting point. Ultimately I consider it an austere environment, imbued with a lot of suspense, almost surreal if you observe the segments of the profiles, the color of the rocks, this clean cut between the luxuriant nature of the pastures and woods, which becomes gray and severe conquest environment. treacherous terrain; uneven bottom. Affordable but long climb. Absolutely to conquer.

The characteristic "rock labyrinth" makes this one of the most particular places of the Altopiano dei 7 Comuni. The interest is of a geological type for the rock formations of the Lower Pleistocene; of a faunal and floristic type due to the presence of protected and particular animals and vegetation; and historical due to the presence of tunnels, stairs and walkways dating back to the First World War during the Stafexpedition.
